Meditation and Outreach
We are a non profit organization formed with the aim of developing a platform for learning, practicing and sharing ancient Himalayan wisdom in contributing toward a harmonious society and world. We take inspiration from the wisdom tradition of Atiyoga practiced in the Himalayas.
The tradition of great perfection Atiyoga, ‘utmost yoga’ is an ancient Indo-Tibetan Buddhist meditative practice which aims at revealing the ultimate, natural state of awareness and reality. It is believed that most of the sorrows and troubles in our lives arise from and are aggravated due to ignorance and deviation from this state. Recognition of it known as 'rigpa' 'awareness' is believed to lead towards lasting freedom, peace and joy. It is taught that master Padmashambhava introduced the tradition in Tibet and Himalayas in the 8th century. In the 19th century, Dudjom Lingpa (1835-1904) received the teachings and passed them down to his disciples including Pema Debyi Gyalbo aka Degyal Rinpoche (1873-1933). It was then passed down to one of his principle disciples Golok Serta Rinpoche from whom it was passed to our lineage teachers in West Nepal and beyond.
We are a community of meditation practitioners (in Nepal, USA) and a non profit 501 c (3) organization in USA inspired from the Namkha Khyungdzong meditative tradition. Under the direction of Thundup Rinpoche, the organization aims to develop and serve as a platform to learn, practice and preserve the wisdom tradition in contributing towards social, psychological well being of people in the Himalayas and around the globe.
A foundational practice common to all traditions, Samatha, calm abiding practice serves as an effective method of gaining relief from many issues such as stress, trauma and so on in our lives and also serves as a foundation for higher insight. We plan to offer regular classes for beginners and practitioners alike. Visit us for our upcoming schedules and timings.
Vajrayana and in particular Atiyoga teachings follow a holistic approach in meditation in which negative emotions and distractions are thoroughly addressed at its root. The practice of preliminaries which include a set of reflection, meditations serve as prerequisite for higher Atiyoga teachings as well as a complete path on its own leading to calmness and insight.
As one gains familiarity and completes the preliminaries, one has the opportunity to delve into the esoteric meditation practices with the guidance and empowerment of the teacher. These practices facilitate one's recognition of natural state of awareness in a swifter and effective way. However, one has to receive empowerments and instructions from a lineage teacher to engage in the practices. Get in touch for our upcoming events and broadcasts.
Vajrayana Sadhana practices also include many healing methods for the practitioner as well as those who come in touch with the practice and practitioners. Healing practices are led by practitioners who have completed certain levels of practice where the subjects of healing are brought under their visualization and dedication.
We aim to translate ancient texts and make them available to benefit widely. Please contribute and participate. You can also download and utilize translated texts with permission.
We also offer meditation seminars aimed at working professionals who wish to receive a palpable introduction to the ancient wisdom for reducing stress, negative emotions and even trauma. We will utilize secular tools and techniques that can benefit people and yet with its root in ancient practices, we will maintain the authenticity of the practices.
